The Alan Box

Kia Ora! The name 'Alan Box' points to its creator, Alan Kelland, a participant at Ensign's EChat community (handle 'mbh'), who has shared his methods at Coffee House Traders and Bline chat rooms, transcribed in part as Alan's Lessons on the dacharts.com website, and greatly expanded herein. Hundreds of 'mbh' charts are archived in the daily dacharts pages, as are charts by many who have studied his work and used his method in their own trading.

If you are new to the Alan Box, start with the Overview and click through each page of "daManual" using the links at the bottom of each page. If not all of it makes sense at first, fear not as the best teacher is actual use of the Box on real data. You'll learn how to put the Box on a chart, basic use guidelines, and a few strategies.

Good Luck and no worries, mate!

(PS - Wombat" is daManual's mascot. He may look playful, but know this, when it comes to trading, he is completely serious)

This manual is a gift to the Coffee House wombats who have made the efforts to learn the box trading methods. It is here in perpetuity. A gift given is a gift forever. Wombats love peace, good vibes, and of course, cash in the wallet.Be a wombat.

These notes reflect 'mbh' comments from 18 April through 23 June 2005 and are not intended to completely document all his methods. The first edition of this manual was also published in the Ensign Software's June 2005 Newsletter in a much condensed one-page format (06 July 05 version), however, it has not been updated with the many new examples, additional templates, and refinements in this updated version.

This manual is my archiving of what Alan has shared in the chat rooms in a format that I found useful to my own learning. It draws from Alan’s Lessons and incorporates my own notes, notes from chat transcripts, and notes sent to me by fellow box traders. Much appreciation is extended to those who participated. As a scribe, I do not pretend to be an expert, but rather, an editor.

As with all trading methods, there is no guarantee of future success, nor should any comments, methods, strategies, or techniques described herein be construed as trading advice.Entry to the site constitutes agreement to the conditions of the copyright and disclaimer.

Alan has reviewed and accepted "da Manual" and anyerrors and/or omissions are unintentional. Please email amg with comments, additions, and/or changes.
