Independent Publishing
If you are just starting your publishing career - as an independent or as a
self-publisher - I urge you to join a peer group. Even the most experienced
publishers have the same problems as the beginners! The most tangible benefits
will be
- Eligibility to participate in cooperative mailings
- Member discounts from associate vend or members for printing, shipping,
or distribution;
- Opportunities for continuing learning, such as the PMA Mini-University;
and an important resource not to be overlooked,
- Camaraderie, perspective, and encouragement.
The following three are "must do"
- JOIN your peers at PMA
PMA is
the
Publishers Marketing Association. The website has scores of helpful
articles, as does the monthly newsletter, which also features encouraging
success stories.
- BUY Dan Poynter's The Self Publishing Manual
Para Publishing
